I’m Karen, a Mount Barker-based editor and librarian with over 20 years’ experience supporting writers across academic, professional, and creative contexts.
With a degree in Professional Writing and Communication (Editing and Publishing) and a Master of Information Management (Librarianship), I bring both technical editing expertise and a deep understanding of structured, purposeful writing.
Alongside my work with students and researchers, I also have experience editing non-fiction works, including local history publications, and will treat your treasured manuscript with the respect and sensitive handling it deserves.

How I work with you
I take a supportive, collaborative approach to every project. Whether you’re looking for a final proofread, detailed copy editing, or ongoing advisory support, I tailor my services to suit your needs.
For more complex work, I also offer one-on-one consultations, providing space to talk through ideas, structure, and challenges, particularly useful for non-fiction books, theses, literature reviews, and developing academic writing skills over time.
Supporting you to succeed
At the heart of my work is a simple goal: to help you feel more confident in your writing and the work you produce.
Writing isn’t just about getting the details right. It’s about communicating your ideas clearly and effectively. I’m here to support you through that process with care, clarity, and expertise.
My education
I have an undergraduate degree from the University of South Australia in Creative and Professional Communication, majoring in Editing and Publishing.
I have also continued my formal and informal education through online courses including:
- Essential Writing for Professionals and Graduate Students – American Psychological Association (APA)
